At the beginning

CoDPuk was formed in 2004 by a group of deaf parents who felt frustrated with lack of support and understanding and the idea of this charity is to create opportunities for these parents to meet and share experiences through social events.

What we are about

Our ethos is about valuing deaf parents and their children and this extends to nurturing self esteem in both parents and children, fostering support and a feeling of ‘I’m not alone'.

Our aim is to organise a range of social events around the country providing deaf parents and their children opportunities to meet in a very informal environment where they can share their parenting experiences with others and for the children to realise that there are other children who also have deaf parents.

Behind the scenes

This charity is run by six committee members of which three are trustees and they meet approximately every two months to discuss event planning, fundraising and to deal with any relevant issues. These members are deaf parents themselves and have very kindly given their time to ensure the continued success of this charity.

This committee is underpinned by a database of volunteers who help out in various ways and they are always appreciated. Please contact us (email) if you would like to volunteer, organise an event in your area, or offer your specialised knowledge.
